Sports on Conservation is annually program, under SECOTO established in COP 29 Azerbaijan, to represents a significant step toward integrating sports participation with environmental consciousness among youth athletes.
By providing essential equipment while fostering an understanding of sustainable practices, the program enhances athletic performance and cultivates a generation that values competition and conservation.
Ahead of the Asian Green Cup of Eco clubs, SECOTO will provides sports equipment to 1,055 youth Eco sports teams actively engaged in promoting sports on conservation from 211 Countries. This initiative recognizes the importance of equipping young athletes with the necessary Eco-friendly tools, to help the kick starting or advancing their journey.
Sports on Conservation program’s quaternary objective
Establishing Eco Sports Clubs: By Combining all-new talented generation from all disciplines of sports and entertainment, under one club which will act on the climate agenda from the local community to the international level.
Providing Access to Quality Equipment: Many youth teams, especially those in underprivileged areas, lack quality sports equipment. By distributing gear, the project seeks to level the playing field and encourage sports participation.
Promoting Environmental Awareness: The project emphasizes on the importance of sustainability in sports. It aims to educate young athletes about responsible practices, such as rising the next generation who are earth defenders in sport careers.
Teamwork and Community Engagement: By involving local communities in the distribution process, the project fosters teamwork and strengthens community bonds through shared goals related to sports and conservation.
It addresses to sport for climate change on a global scale and plays a crucial role in promoting sustainability by organizing mega sports events on conservation and competition that raise awareness about climate change, reducing carbon footprints, and implementing environmentally friendly practices.
It has significant influence due to the scale of the events we organize and the widespread attention they attract. By integrating Sport for climate change considerations into SECOTO, it set an example for others to follow and contribute to mitigating the impact of large-scale sporting events on the environment.
Sustainable Environmental Conservation Tournament –SECOTO is a global platform of sports on Conservation and a signatory of Sports for Nature (IUCN, UNEP and IOC). It was founded by young Climate activists from 120, during COP28 –UAE, to rise a new talented generation in Sports & Entertainment on conservation.
