The Sequoia Park Zoo Advisory Group’s Conservation Council is accepting proposals for their thirteenth annual Conservation Grant Program.
Appropriate projects include proposals for research, educational programs, and habitat management. Qualifying conservation projects will be reviewed, with special consideration given to the following:
- Projects in line with the Zoo’s conservation goals and species represented at the Zoo and
- Local research and conservation projects.
Funding Information
- Funds will be granted up to $3,000 for projects that can be completed within two years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals should be submitted by individuals or organizations for projects that have a clear and direct impact on the conservation of wildlife or habitats.
Application requirements
- Complete applications must consist of the cover sheet, a proposal containing the project’s description (limited to 2 pages), budget (limited to 2 pages), and a letter of support from a collaborator, sponsor, or colleague. Incomplete applications, those not following instructions for naming the application file, and those exceeding the page limit will not be reviewed.
- Cover Sheet: This form must be the first page of the application.
- Project Description: Two pages maximum (text ≥ 11 point font with ≥ 0.75 inch margins). Please include the following sections:
- A statement clearly describing project objectives and scope of intended activity. Include:
- Background information,
- Expected results, and
- Briefly describe applicant’s qualifications related to the project.
- Detailed methodology and dates (including a timeline of project completion). Reviewers should understand the specifics of the methods and the data analyses.
- Description of the project’s value and significance to conservation. Enumerate clearly the project’s expected conservation outcomes and how these will be quantitatively measured during the project and assessed after the completion of the project.
- A statement clearly describing project objectives and scope of intended activity. Include:
- Supplemental Materials (optional):
- Citations may be included here. A map of the project site and/or relevant photographs of the study species or project area can be included if these would help the reviewers understand the project but are not required. Please do not include CVs or resumes here.
- Supplemental materials are not to be used as a substitute for a concise explanation of the project’s objectives and methods. Grant reviewers will base their funding recommendations on the merit of the proposal as presented in the two-page application.
